Summer activities of Cooltorise project in municipalities of Pazardzhik and Peshtera

Since end of May, 2023 on the territory of the municipalities of Pazardzhik and Peshtera the summer activities of Cooltorise project are continuing in an intensive way. It is planned to implement summer heat energy workshops, energy bills workshops, outdoor interventions, distribute indoor installable kits, and organize summer heat warning alarms in the next few months. All of these activities are targeted primarily at vulnerable groups in society like elderly people, disadvantaged, single parent families, and also social housing representatives in both target locations – Pazardzhik and Peshtera.

The aim is to raise awareness of the problems that arrive with summer energy poverty, as well as to increase people’s knowledge of summer heat issues. The project has also developed a special handbook containing over 50 cooling measures, which can be found on the project website, as well as on the website of Association CSEG. The planting of tree species in both cities is planned. The selected locations are close to residential buildings and the aim is to reduce the heat in summer. The species chosen are deciduous, specifically suited to urban conditions and carefully selected to develop large foliage in summer to keep temperatures down and in winter to provide more natural light around residential buildings.
