Invitation for workshop: “Building Skills and Knowledge to Accelerate the Energy Transition and Adapt to Climate Change”

The energy transition starts with skills: an event presents leading international training and qualification initiatives in the construction sector

How can we prepare the professionals we need for the renovation of the building fund, the transition to renewable energy, and adaptation to climate change?

On May 26, 2026, a workshop titled “Building Skills and Knowledge to Accelerate the Energy Transition and Adaptation to Climate Change” will take place. The event will begin at 1:00 p.m. in Hall A of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Sofia.

The “Regional Energy Agency of Pazardjik” Association will participate in the event, presenting the INFIRE (INnovative FInancing solutions for climate planning of REsilient and carbon neutral living areas) project, co-funded by the Interreg Euro-MED 2021-2027 Program. The project aims to propose measures to mitigate the negative impacts of climate change.

The workshop will present the results of current European and national initiatives aimed at developing professional competencies in areas key to the green transition. Topics include improving the skills of renewable energy installers in buildings, using virtual reality to train construction professionals with live demonstrations, training experts in citizen service centres, and establishing and managing energy communities.

Special attention will be paid to the role of municipalities in adapting to climate change and to opportunities for transforming regional potential into renewable thermal energy. The event will conclude with a presentation of the European initiative BUILD UP Skills United for upskilling in the construction sector and a general discussion.

The workshop  is aimed at construction professionals, trainers, representatives of industry organizations, municipal specialists, and anyone interested in accelerating the energy transition in Bulgaria.

The event is organized by the EnEffect Energy Efficiency Centre, the Sofia Energy Centre, the Sofia Energy Agency (SOFENA), the Black Sea Energy Research Centre, the Regional Energy Agency – Pazardzhik, and others.
