Kick-off Meeting of project “The Music Balkan Train for Peace”
On April 5-6-7, 2023, the first partner meeting of Erasmus+ project “The Music Balkan Train for Peace” was organized in the city of Pazardzhik. The project is co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme, under contract No. 2022-1-BG01-KA220-SCH-000089076 and has duration of 24 months, starting from the end of 2022. On the Bulgarian side participated the association “Center for Sustainability and Economic Development” (Lead Partner in the project) and the Secondary school “Dimitar Gachev” from the town of Pazardzhik which also hosted the event at its premises. Greece and North Macedonia also participated with one expert organisation and one pilot school each to implement the developed teaching methodology:
- NGO Association for support of economic development – Local action group – Kochani, North Macedonia
- OOMU Risto Jurukov Kochani, North Macedonia
- NGO Alternative Innovative Development (A.I.D.), Greece
- The music school of Larissa, Greece
The main goal of the project is to introduce students from three secondary schools and their teachers to the role that music can play in strengthening world peace and to develop a sense of well-being in school children, their teachers and the school environment in general.
At the first partnership meeting all partners took part, each one giving a presentation of their institution, whiles the lead partner and the partner from Greece, A.I.D. Foundation presented the upcoming activities. The contractual/partnership agreements between consortium partners were signed and the upcoming events and awareness and dissemination campaign were also discussed.

”The Music Balkan Train for Peace” project aims to raise awareness and emphasize the importance of peace and grow the sense of prosperity on school kids, on their teachers, and in general, in school environments. In addition, the project through its results, seeks to deal with radicalization and racism phenomena. This project aims to achieve its goals through the methods of exchanging good practices, transnational events in the participating project countries, training courses, short term joint events, the development of a useful toolkit for the needs of the project, and the combined creation of a song from each school along with a dance show.
“The Music Balkan Train for Peace” project is expected to have a significant and radical impact on the project participants, NGOs staff members, target groups such as teachers, school staff, students, as well as local, regional and national stakeholders, and the project countries. More specifically the Music Balkan Train for Peace project through school students’ training and education, will promote peace methods to young generations and strengthen their consciousness of becoming peace ambassadors.
